Stock Exchange
The Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE) is a prominent stock exchange in Canada, established in 2001. Initially known as the Canadian Trading and Quotation System Inc. (CNQ), it rebranded to the Canadian National Stock Exchange (CNSX) in 2008 and finally became the CSE in 2014. The CSE is recognized as the first new exchange in Ontario in over 80 years, providing an alternative platform for companies to access public capital markets. The CSE operates entirely on electronic systems, offering an efficient trading environment. It provides market data services, including real-time and historical data, to customers across North America and globally. The exchange supports a diverse range of issuers, particularly in emerging sectors like cannabis, and has 805 listed companies with a market capitalization of $378 million as of April 2024. The CSE is often referred to as an "alternative stock exchange," catering to smaller companies that may not meet the requirements of larger exchanges. Additionally, securities listed on the CSE are eligible for inclusion in various retirement accounts in Canada and the U.S.
