Fundación Montemadrid, officially known as Fundación Obra Social y Monte de Piedad de Madrid, is a Spanish foundation based in Madrid. Established in 1702, it is recognized as Spain's second-oldest surviving enterprise. Originally a charitable pawnbroker, it evolved into Caja Madrid, a savings bank, before becoming a foundation in 2012. The foundation focuses on social welfare, cultural development, and providing low-interest credit services. The foundation offers low-interest loans to individuals from various socioeconomic backgrounds and operates charitable pawnshops in several Spanish cities. It manages La Casa Encendida, a cultural center that hosts exhibitions, workshops, and educational activities. Additionally, Fundación Montemadrid funds education, healthcare, and employment programs through grants and partnerships, supporting artists, cultural practitioners, and community organizations. Its leadership is headed by Jesús Núñez Velázquez, and it is primarily funded through its Monte de Piedad operations and historical assets.
