ALIPH, the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas, is a Geneva-based intergovernmental organization dedicated to safeguarding cultural heritage threatened by conflict, climate change, and natural disasters. Established in March 2017, ALIPH emerged from a French-UAE initiative and operates as a public-private partnership, utilizing both state and private funding to respond quickly to heritage crises. The organization focuses on three main areas: preventive protection, emergency measures, and post-conflict rehabilitation. ALIPH has supported 470 projects worldwide, including efforts to secure endangered artifacts and restore cultural infrastructure. Its governance includes a Foundation Board and a Scientific Committee, which guide project selection and strategy. ALIPH collaborates with various member states, private donors, and local institutions to promote heritage protection and ensure culturally sensitive interventions in conflict-affected regions.
