REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais operates in two major areas: • The transmission in very high voltage electricity and overall technical management of the National Electricity System; • The transport of high-pressure gas and overall technical management of the National Gas System, guaranteeing the reception, storage and regasification of LNG and underground storage of natural gas. As a result of the country's commitment to renewable energy, the Portuguese government granted REN the concession to operate a pilot area for generating electricity from sea waves to Enondas - Energia das Ondas. S.A., which is 100% owned by REN. REN also operates in the telecommunications business via RENTELECOM, which includes a range of services, such as infrastructure, managed services and consultancy. REN’s investment on internationalisation is based on a conservative investment strategy, in sectors in which the company is a specialist and in markets with economic stability and predictable regulatory frameworks, such as Chile. For REN, Chile is a relevant market given its economic indicators, legal security, and growth potential in the energy sector. REN meets all the required quality and safety criteria and seeks to be one of the most efficient European energy transmission system operators, while creating value for its shareholders within a framework of sustainable development.
