United Christian Hospital is an acute general hospital that provides 24-hour accident and emergency service with a wide range of other services including in-patient, day-patient, out-patient and community care services to the population of East Kowloon. It is located at 130 Hip Wo Street, Kwun Tong under the Kowloon East Cluster management of the Hospital Authority. At present, it provides 1,403 beds. Dr Deacons Yeung has been appointed as the chief executive of both the Kowloon East Cluster and the hospital. United Christian Hospital was opened in 1973 and founded through the cooperation of the Hong Kong Christian Council and the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital. It is a teaching hospital for nursing degree students of Netherosole School of Nursing of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and other universities, as well as the medical students and students of allied health professions of universities in Hong Kong. The hospital emphasizes on community oriented services and community partnership promoting the concept of "hospital without walls". Major programs include community nursing service, volunteer service and geriatric & psychiatry outreach teams. The first two services were pioneered in the hospital in the early 70's.
