Cocoa Horizons is an impact-driven program launched in 2015 by Barry Callebaut, a leading chocolate manufacturer. Managed by the Cocoa Horizons Foundation, the program aims to enhance the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their communities through sustainable farming practices, community development, and environmental protection. The program promotes good agricultural practices to boost productivity and sustainability. It also focuses on improving community infrastructure, including education and healthcare, while addressing social issues like child protection and gender imbalance. Cocoa Horizons offers three main product options: Cocoa Horizons Mass Balance, Cocoa Horizons Inside, and Cocoa Horizons Plus, all designed to ensure traceability and support for farmers. Active in countries such as Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Brazil, Cocoa Horizons supports over 356,000 cocoa farmers. The program has made significant strides in expanding its reach and impact, emphasizing human rights and environmental sustainability while working towards a transformative cocoa farming model aligned with Science-Based Targets for achieving Net Zero by 2050.
