Kronen Zeitung, commonly known as Krone, is Austria's largest and most widely read tabloid newspaper. Founded in 1900 by Gustav Davis, it provides comprehensive coverage of news, entertainment, sports, politics, business, and technology. The newspaper is published daily in color, typically featuring around 80 pages in a tabloid format. Ownership of Kronen Zeitung is shared between the Dichand family and other investors, including the Funke media group and billionaire René Benko. It operates under Mediaprint, which also manages the print and marketing for another major Austrian newspaper, Kurier. Krone publishes regional editions for various Austrian states, except Vorarlberg, and has a significant online presence, although its primary focus remains on print. With nearly 3 million readers, it reaches over 40% of Austria's population, making it a prominent platform for advertisers.
