Emirates News Agency (WAM) is the official news agency of the United Arab Emirates, established in November 1976 and headquartered in Abu Dhabi. It began operations in June 1977, initially providing news in Arabic and later expanding to English in December 1978. WAM plays a crucial role in delivering news related to the UAE’s political, economic, and developmental activities. WAM offers real-time news coverage, analysis, and multimedia content, including photos, videos, and infographics. It broadcasts in nine languages, including Arabic, English, and Hebrew. The agency also produces documentaries, such as the 2021 film *1971*, which details the UAE’s formation. With international offices in cities like Cairo, Washington, and Brussels, WAM maintains partnerships with various global news agencies, enhancing its reach and influence.
