The Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) is a worldwide network that represents over 110 National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) from various regions. Established in 1993 and based in Geneva, Switzerland, GANHRI works closely with the United Nations and civil society to promote human rights on a global scale. As of April 2025, 91 of its member institutions hold 'A status', indicating full compliance with international standards. GANHRI offers essential services such as accreditation, capacity building, and advocacy. It conducts peer reviews to assess NHRI compliance with the Paris Principles and provides training and policy guidance to support NHRIs. Additionally, GANHRI develops practical tools and policy frameworks to assist member institutions in aligning with human rights obligations. Its stakeholders include member NHRIs, international partners like UN agencies, and governments seeking to strengthen their human rights frameworks. GANHRI's governance structure ensures diverse representation and facilitates discussions on pressing human rights issues.
