The South West Transit Association (SWTA) is a regional membership organization committed to advancing public transportation through advocacy, education, and connection. We represent and support transit agencies, mobility providers, and partners across Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. SWTA is best known for its two flagship conferences each year — the SWTA Annual Conference and Summer University (SummerU) — which bring together hundreds of transit professionals for high-impact learning, strategic collaboration, and real-world innovation. These events serve as a hub for shared knowledge, hands-on training, and networking with peers and policy leaders from across the region. In addition to our events, SWTA plays a key role as a trusted policy and advocacy voice for transit at both the state and federal levels. We actively engage with lawmakers, agencies, and stakeholders to champion sustainable funding, mobility equity, and the future of accessible, rider-focused transportation. Our work also includes: Strategic communications and outreach support Marketing and public engagement tools Workforce development and NextGen leadership initiatives Recognition programs such as the SWTA Spotlight Awards Peer networking, resource sharing, and real-time industry support From rural systems and tribal transit to metro operations and mobility innovators, SWTA provides the structure, insight, and advocacy that fuel public transit’s growth across the Southwest.
