The Chambre de la sécurité financière (CSF) is a self-regulatory organization dedicated to protecting the public by overseeing financial professionals in Quebec. Established over 25 years ago, it is a unique multidisciplinary regulatory body in Canada, governing approximately 34,000 members, including financial advisors, planners, and insurance representatives. The CSF operates under Quebec’s financial regulations and reports to the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF). The CSF provides regulatory oversight to ensure compliance with ethical standards and investigates public complaints. It mandates continuing education for its members through biannual training programs to maintain their competency. Additionally, the CSF offers public resources, allowing consumers to verify member credentials via the AMF’s public registry. Its governance includes a board of 11 administrators, with a mix of elected and appointed members, ensuring effective representation and oversight of financial professionals in the region.
