ODVA, or the Open DeviceNet Vendors Association, is a global standards development organization founded in 1995 and based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It comprises leading industrial automation companies and focuses on advancing open, interoperable information and communication technologies in the industrial sector. ODVA's mission is to develop and promote standards that enable seamless integration and communication among industrial automation devices and systems. The organization's core technology is the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP), which underpins several network adaptations, including EtherNet/IP™, DeviceNet, ControlNet, and CompoNet. ODVA also enhances CIP with services like CIP Safety™, CIP Security™, and CIP Motion™ to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
