ORAP Zimbabwe (Organisation of Rural Associations for Progress) is a membership-based development movement founded in 1980 and registered in 1981. Based in Richmond, Bulawayo, the organization focuses on empowering rural communities, including women, men, and youth, primarily in the provinces of Bulawayo, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, and Midlands. ORAP aims to address underdevelopment and poverty in these regions by promoting community mobilization, enterprise development, food and nutrition security, and wellness. The organization has positively impacted over 100,000 families, reaching approximately 500,000 people. ORAP's mission is to empower rural communities to develop themselves within their cultural contexts, fostering autonomy and self-reliance. The organization is guided by values such as Ubuntu, integrity, excellence, and dialogue, and has gained international recognition for its grassroots approach to human development and poverty eradication.
