Imazon, or Instituto do Homem e Meio Ambiente da Amazônia, is a Brazilian non-profit research institute dedicated to conservation and sustainable development in the Amazon rainforest. Founded in 1990, it operates as a Civil Society Organization of Public Interest and is based in Belém, Pará. Imazon's mission is to balance environmental conservation with socioeconomic development through applied research, policy development, and public education. The institute conducts extensive research and analysis, producing over 300 technical papers and 111 books on topics such as deforestation and sustainable development. Imazon also develops geospatial technologies for monitoring deforestation and provides training for professionals and local stakeholders in sustainable resource management. Additionally, it collaborates with government agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions to advocate for policies that support conservation and climate resilience.
