Milan Internet Exchange (MIX) is Italy’s leading Internet Exchange Point (IXP) and one of the top IXPs in Europe, established in 2000 and located in Milan's Caldera Campus. As a not-for-profit organization, MIX provides a carrier-neutral and data center-neutral interconnection platform, owning its own data centers and connecting over 430 Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs). It handles peak traffic exceeding 3 Tbps, with a total capacity of 18.55 Tbps. MIX offers interconnection services that enable Internet Service Providers (ISPs), carriers, content providers, and hosting companies to efficiently exchange IP traffic. Key services include public peering, regional edge locations across Italy, high-reliability connectivity, and network performance optimization. Additionally, MIX engages in educational initiatives to inform IT students about internet infrastructure and networking. Its strategic position and extensive infrastructure make it a vital hub for internet traffic exchange in Italy and Europe.
