Wooncoöperatie De Warren is a housing cooperative based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, recognized as the city's first self-build housing initiative. Founded by a group committed to sustainable and communal living, De Warren emerged from the collective KONIJN, which previously organized festivals and established a permaculture farm in Portugal. The cooperative has developed a complex featuring 36 apartments, including 16 social housing units and 20 mid-segment apartments, with a strong emphasis on affordability and sustainability. Community spaces such as a makerspace, children's play area, theatre room, and a large common living room known as the "wooden cathedral" enhance the communal living experience.
