Zambia China Economic & Trade Cooperation Zone (abbreviated as ZCCZ) is the first Chinese oversea economic and trade cooperation zone in Africa and also the first multi-facility economic zone approved by Zambian government. ZCCZ was established in order to implement one of the eight measures “Establish three to five economic and trade cooperation zones in Africa in the next three years” pledged by the former Chinese President Mr. Hu Jintao at Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2006. Instructed by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co. Ltd (abbreviated as CNMC) has been in charge of the development, construction and management of ZCCZ since then. Founded in 1983, CNMC is a large-scale central enterprise under the management of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.Now CNMC is the largest Chinese Investor in Zambia.
