APM Terminals Mumbai, also known as Gateway Terminals India (GTI) is India's busiest container terminal handling facility, operating from Nhava Sheva's Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA). The terminal with a capacity of 2 million TEUs, is a joint venture between APM Terminals and the Container Corporation of India (CONCOR- A Government of India undertaking). APM Terminals Mumbai is a part of global APM Terminals which has a network of 65 operating ports and terminal facilities, employing 22,000 professionals across 37 countries around the world. Being strategically located, all major shipping lines call at the Terminal. Elephanta Island, which faces the terminal on one side, acts as a break water and protects from tidal disturbances and storms. With the ongoing investment in infrastructure, the container handling capacity of the terminal will increase by 10% to 2.20 million TEUs. With 24x7 operation and 3,500 truck movements per day, in 2022 alone, the terminal catered to 571 vessel calls. APM Terminals Mumbai is well connected to: - Indian hinterland via national highways and state highway - ICD locations and CFSs across the country via rail and road - Mumbai via upcoming Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) - Northern India via electrified route with the upcoming Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) from Dadri to JNPT.
