Its mission is to collaboratively invest in energy resources to provide affordable, reliable, and clean electricity for its member communities. NCPA serves municipalities, rural electric cooperatives, and other publicly owned entities by offering services such as electricity purchase, aggregation, scheduling, and management. NCPA operates a fleet of power plants that ranks among the cleanest in the United States, supplying electricity to over 700,000 Californians. Its power portfolio totals 778 megawatts, with around 57% of its generation being greenhouse gas emission-free. The agency's energy mix includes geothermal, hydroelectric, and natural gas resources, supporting California's Renewable Portfolio Standard goal of 60% renewable energy by 2030. NCPA has also invested significantly in energy efficiency programs, reducing electricity demand by 735 gigawatt hours since 2006.
