Øresundsbron is a Swedish-Danish consortium company owned by the Swedish and Danish states. It is responsible for the ownership and operation of the Øresund Bridge, a significant infrastructure link that connects Denmark and Sweden across the Øresund strait. The company manages the 16-kilometer combined railway and motorway connection, which includes the iconic cable-stayed bridge and an adjacent tunnel section, facilitating transport between Copenhagen and Malmö. The Øresund Bridge serves both the European route E20 motorway and the Øresund railway line. It spans nearly 8 kilometers to the artificial island Peberholm, transitioning into a 4-kilometer tunnel to the Danish island of Amager. Opened in 2000, this vital transport corridor enhances economic, cultural, and social exchange between the two countries and the broader Scandinavian region. Øresundsbron also provides telecommunications infrastructure, featuring secure fiber optic links that support data transmission between Sweden and Denmark.
