Grand Avignon is an intercommunal structure known as a communauté d'agglomération, located in southern France. Established in December 2000, it promotes cooperation among its 16 member communes, which span parts of the Vaucluse and Gard departments. Covering an area of 302.6 square kilometers, Grand Avignon serves a population of approximately 197,102 residents, with 91,729 living in Avignon. The organization coordinates policies and development projects in areas such as urban planning, economic development, transportation, and environmental management. Its governance is led by a president, currently Joël Guin. Grand Avignon aims to enhance the quality of life and support local economies through collaborative efforts, ensuring efficient delivery of public services and infrastructure development for the benefit of residents, businesses, and local governments within its jurisdiction.
