Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) is the oldest and largest nonprofit organization in the U.S. dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect. Founded in 1972, its mission is to empower families and communities to thrive, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to live purposeful and happy lives. PCA America believes that child abuse often results from a lack of resources and support, rather than from "bad parents." The organization offers a variety of programs and services, including Healthy Families America, which supports nearly 600 home visiting sites nationwide. These evidence-based programs provide parents and caregivers with essential resources and education. PCA America also engages in public policy advocacy, focusing on family-friendly policies and community-based prevention programs. Additionally, they produce educational toolkits, public awareness campaigns, and a podcast called "The Shift," which shares insights on preventing harm and promoting family well-being. Under the leadership of Dr. Melissa T. Merrick, PCA America continues to lead efforts in creating a comprehensive prevention ecosystem across the country.
